San Antonio Rodeo Update

Posted on February 22, 2016

I’m just back from the San Antonio rodeo junior shootout. Man, what an organized shoot, and what a privilege to be there and talk to the shooters.

As usual, I saw young shooters in such contorted positions making moves that more resemble a robot that is horribly out of time and sync. Crouched. Leaned over. Creating the stock. Rolling their head forward. And hitting the target!

It baffles me at the contorted positions that kids put themselves in, thinking that it is helping while not understanding that the more moving parts there are, the more perfect all movement must become.

They just don't understand the risk they are putting into their game through excess movement. And yes, their coaches are still telling them to look down the barrel. While that will work to some degree, in trap it will not work on anything else except home intruders.
