The number one reason for missed targets is the aiming perception causing the target to be seen down the barrel or not far enough behind the barrel for any number of reasons.
The more you understand this, the more you can get used to the picture of seeing the target way behind the barrel. In doing so, make that picture the baseline for your plan.
The less the barrel plays in the shot and the more the target is the center of the plan and shot.
